The current Wood-Mizer and Iron & Oak lineup spans 24 to 42 tons and covers self-contained tow-behind machines, skid steer attachments, vertical/horizontal splitting, and high-output bi-directional production.
Start with splitting force
24–29 ton models cover demanding property, farm, and routine firewood work. Move toward 30–42 tons for tougher hardwood, larger rounds, rental use, and heavier production.
Choose your power source
Tow-behind Honda and Kohler-powered machines operate independently. Skid steer models use auxiliary hydraulics, eliminating a separate engine when compatible equipment is already on site.
Match the log-handling style
Vertical/horizontal machines reduce lifting of large rounds, bi-directional splitters maximize production, and skid steer attachments let the machine position heavy logs from the cab.

Common questions
Before you choose
Tow-behind or skid steer?
Choose tow-behind when you want a self-contained machine that can move between work sites. Choose skid steer when compatible hydraulic equipment is already available and handling heavy rounds from the cab matters more than stand-alone operation.
How much tonnage do I need?
Higher tonnage increases the machine's ability to work through difficult, knotty, or dense material, but tonnage is only one factor. Log diameter, species, hydraulic speed, and daily volume also matter.
Vertical / horizontal or bi-directional?
Vertical/horizontal machines offer flexibility for large rounds that are difficult to lift. Bi-directional machines split on both strokes and are designed around higher production throughput.
How is freight handled?
These are heavy equipment products. Freight and delivery requirements vary by model and destination, so final shipping arrangements should be confirmed before shipment.
