Shipping & Returns

Last updated: September 21, 2026

American Timber Equipment sells large, heavy, and often freight-shipped equipment. Shipping methods, lead times, delivery requirements, and return eligibility can vary by product and manufacturer. This page explains what to expect before, during, and after delivery.

Important: Product-specific shipping and return terms may override the general information below. If delivery access, timing, or returnability is a deciding factor, contact us before placing your order.

Heavy-Equipment Shipping

Most equipment ships by LTL freight, commercial carrier, or another delivery service appropriate for the product.

Inspect Before Signing

Freight should be inspected carefully at delivery and visible damage should be documented on the carrier receipt.

Returns Require Approval

Return eligibility varies by product and manufacturer, and prior authorization is required before anything is sent back.

Shipping Information

Shipping Methods & Costs

Most equipment ships by LTL freight, commercial carrier, or specialized delivery service. Shipping availability and cost depend on product size, destination, delivery access, and manufacturer location.

Additional charges may apply for residential delivery, lift-gate service, limited-access locations, redelivery, storage, or other special services when they are not included in the product price.

Lead & Transit Times

Estimated shipping and delivery dates are not guaranteed. Manufacturer lead times, carrier schedules, weather, inventory availability, and other factors can affect delivery.

For the most current estimate on a specific product, contact us before ordering.

Freight Delivery

Freight carriers may contact you to schedule delivery. Depending on the shipment, delivery may be curbside and may require someone to be present to inspect and sign for the equipment.

Please make sure the delivery location can safely accommodate a freight truck and that any required unloading equipment or assistance is available.

Inspect Your Shipment

Please inspect freight carefully before signing the delivery receipt. If damage is visible, note the damage clearly on the carrier's delivery receipt and take photographs before accepting the shipment whenever possible.

Contact us promptly so we can help coordinate next steps with the carrier or manufacturer.

Address Changes & Delivery Access

Contact us as soon as possible if the delivery address or access requirements need to change. Once an order has been processed or handed to the carrier, address changes may create additional carrier charges or delays.

Missing or Incomplete Shipments

If your shipment arrives with missing parts, accessories, or packages, document what was received and contact us with your order number, photos, and any relevant delivery paperwork.

We will help coordinate the appropriate resolution with the manufacturer or carrier.

Returns & Cancellations

Return Eligibility

Returns require prior authorization. Return eligibility, return windows, restocking fees, return-freight costs, and other conditions may vary by manufacturer and product.

Special-order, configured, made-to-order, oversized, freight-shipped, used, installed, or final-sale products may be non-returnable or subject to additional restrictions.

How the Return Process Works

Contact us before sending any product back. If a return is eligible, we will provide the applicable instructions, return destination, and any manufacturer-specific requirements.

Products returned without authorization may be refused or may not qualify for a refund.

Order Cancellations

If you need to cancel an order, contact us as soon as possible. Orders that have entered production, been allocated, processed for shipment, or shipped may be subject to manufacturer cancellation, freight, or restocking charges.

Refunds, Freight & Restocking Charges

When a return is approved, any applicable original shipping cost, return freight, restocking charge, or manufacturer fee will depend on the product and the reason for the return.

We will communicate the applicable return terms before an authorized return is completed.

Defects & Warranty Issues

Product defects and warranty claims are generally handled under the manufacturer's warranty rather than as a standard return.

See our Warranty page for more information about manufacturer coverage and the claim process.
