Why the range matters: nominal chipping diameter is not the same thing as everyday production capacity. Dense hardwood, crotches, leafy brush, dull knives and high feed rates all increase power demand. This calculator deliberately recommends headroom for regular work.
Methodology: screening bands are anchored to current manufacturer compatibility ranges such as Wallenstein BX36/BX52/BX72/BX102 families, Woodland Mills 4–8 inch PTO models, DR Power PRO 475P and WoodMaxx MX-8600. Always confirm the exact model manual, tractor PTO output, hitch geometry, lift capacity and hydraulic requirements.
